With the 2026 Cherokee slated to hit dealerships later this year, we thought we’d celebrate its homecoming by unveiling all we know so far, starting with one of the most important aspects: its price point! Though we don’t have any news on a firm number yet, word is that the 2026 Cherokee’s competitive pricing will position it somewhere between the Jeep Compass and the Jeep Grand Cherokee, but how does it stack up feature-wise? Let’s cut straight to goods and check out what the 2026 Jeep Cherokee is rocking under the hood. Built on the STLA Large platform shared by Stellantis’s other big beautiful SUVs (including the Jeep Wagoneer), the 2026 Cherokee comes with a 1.6 L EP Turbo I4 Hybrid engine by default, with the potential to accommodate additional powertrain options such as hybrid and full-electric, so watch this space. The 1.6 L Turbo I4 impresses enough by itself though, throwing down with a determined 3,500 lb of pulling power, 210 horsepower, and 230 lb.-ft. of torque that you can start up without even leaving the house using the Cherokee’s available Remote Start command. That’s an assertive first impression, and all at a combined fuel economy of 6.4 L/100km to keep costs low!Â

The 2026 Cherokee ensures you’ll think ‘Jeep’ at a glance with its dominant stance, durable build, and trademark 7-slot grille accented by squared-off headlights and vents on either side. As for cargo space, the 2026 Cherokee is very generous, ranging from 951 L to 1,934 L with the second row seats folded. By the way, loading up goes totally hands-free thanks to the Cherokee’s Foot Activated Liftgate, which lets you open up your trunk by waving your foot under the rear bumper–a thoughtful touch you’ll definitely be glad of on those hectic days where you’ve got a lot of groceries or gear to haul!
